When we are sad, we seize the sadness with harmful goodies. This can only aggravate the situation. Scientists have found that the abuse of junk food can adversely affect the emotional state of a person.

The study was conducted by a group of scientists from Loma Linda University. They analyzed the results of a large-scale survey of California residents for 2005–2015, which included questions about both the health status and the dietary preferences of the respondent. It turned out that those who consumed more unhealthy foods (sugar, french fries and other fast food) were more likely to suffer from stress and depression than their peers, who preferred fruits and vegetables. It is important to emphasize that the revealed tendency did not depend on personal characteristics, such as gender, age, education, age, marital status and income level. Scientists have yet to find out whether the link between unhealthy diet and mental disorders is causal and effectual or much more complex, but for now one thing is clear: if you want to improve your mood, it is better to eat properly.
